lately…

Day after Thanksgiving walk 1

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Ours was super-low key as we stayed at home this year and it was just the four of us.  It was no Norman Rockwell holiday meal…but real life…Luc started fussing and decided he needed to eat right before we were sitting down(off his regular schedule) and Reed complains about almost everything we serve him these days…Jeff and I just looked at each other and had to laugh at these two boys…and toasted our glasses of Prosecco to a “Happy Thanksgiving”. I have to admit I missed entertaining or going to a big gathering like we used to. I look forward to future years of travelling back to IL or have family and friends gather at our home.

This is a view on a walk this morning I took with my iPhone. I think it’s a pretty idyllic neighborhood we live in.  We go on walks alot these days…it helps get us some much needed exercise, soak up these beautiful fall days we have been having and frankly is so good for my spirit! I am really getting into living here. I went through a phase (near the end of my pregnancy so the hormones didn’t help) of really struggling with moving here and all the things that were different. I suppose that’s normal. I have been reading a few other blogs that  have also recently taken a chance and picked up their lives to follow a dream of living somewhere else and they are going through similar emotions.

I am definitely low on “free” time so hence the crickets around here. I know it’s just a necessary adjustment period and I have just been engrossing myself into my family these days.

This weekend we are going to start decorating for Christmas and try to get some pictures for our Holiday card. I got some great ones of Luc earlier this week, but I think Reed is going to be the challenge…3 year olds you know.

What are your plans? Have you started decorating or do you wait until December?

Have a great weekend!

P.S. Look at what’s blooming right now! We have a big, beautiful Camellia bush covered in buds by our house and I was so surprised to see these beautiful flowers blooming this time of year! I am so used to living in IL when everything now that isn’t evergreen is dormant. Gotta love the South. :)

P.P.S. I finally took pictures of Luc’s nursery. Check back Monday for the reveal.
