Pinterest kinda party

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend.

I have been pinning on Pinterest for a good 9 months now and haven’t done a whole lot with referencing my pins. I have recently vowed to use an idea from my Pins at least once a week, otherwise what’s the point??? And with setting a up a new home, I have lots of things that I need to get ideas for. It’s been fun looking back at what I pinned, there are so many good ideas out there. :)

On Sunday we hosted a casual cookout for some new friends. Earlier in the week, I went on my food boards and found some new recipes to try. It was so easy to go to one place and be able to find some new fun ideas.

Here’s what I made from my Pins (http://pinterest.com/hgreenway/)

Peach Flip

Peach Flip (since we live in Georgia now and all…)

  Pickle Dip

Fudgsicles

We also made a veggie tray with garlic hummus and sliders with all the toppings and then had the guests bring the sides. It was a great evening to spend getting to know new friends.

Where do you get your party inspiration from?

Is it wrong

that I have spent so much time thinking about a rug? I just can’t get it out of my head and desperately have been trying to find something I like as much for less

…it’s even sillier since it all might be a moot point after next Monday. I hate it when emotions take over practicality.

I am obsessed with this rug.

Bonita Rug

I love the subdued colors yet it’s playful for a child’s room and has that oh-so Anthropologie look to it.

I first saw this as I was browsing through a Garnet Hill catalog that was addressed to the “current” resident in this house. I am almost (and I only mean almost because I am in love with it)sorry I even looked at the catalog. My only hesitation is the cost. It would be an investment rug for a kid’s room for sure, but thought it could grow with her…that’s how I am trying to justify it. We don’t have to buy much for the room since we are reusing the crib, changing table, glider, etc from when Reed was a baby. And I am reusing the chicken wire armoire I used to have in my kitchen in the old house if it’s a girl for storage. If it’s a boy, we would buy a new dresser and would need a rug too, so the two together would probably cost the same…right??? I want to be $$ practical, but also believe if you love something, it’s worth the splurge. I would do a 5x8 size for the nursery and this would be my decor jumping off point. I had some thoughts floating around in my head, but because I wasn’t sure what the gender is, hadn’t given it much thought. It’s just so silly I am even talking about it now, right?

We find out next Monday the gender which just happens to be the last day for the 20% coupon I received in my email yesterday. Could it be fate? I have never really shopped with this merchant before and certainly wasn’t on their email list until I saw this. I signed up in hopes that maybe they would send me a coupon or let me know about sales. As luck would have it…they sent me the 20% coupon yesterday.

So, we’ll know in a few days if this rug will be entering my home. :)

What do you think? Do you ever find yourself just obsessed with decorative stuff?

Took a break from all the boxes…

The move went well and now we are just digging ourselves out of boxes and trying to put together a home. We’ve been in the house a week now and things are coming along. The hardest part has just been figuring out what to do with all our stuff…it’s been good to really access, “do I really need this?”. With this house, we did downsize some in both sq footage and definitely in storage area, which is what we wanted to have less to maintain but now we need to have a BIG SALE now to get rid of stuff to simplify!!! :)

The main rooms we “live” in are coming along and almost all unpacked and I am just itching to start decorating them. The other rooms, well…those are another story. Gotta have priorities, right?

This past Saturday, our neighborhood hosted a newcomers pool party. What a great excuse to stop unpacking and enjoy ourselves meeting our new neighbors. Everyone was super welcoming and friendly. I guess it is the South, right? The whole meal was catered by the association, we just had to bring a fruit or veggie to share. I didn’t have alot of time with being so busy unpacking, but wanted to show some thoughtfulness to the dish we brought. Sooo….good ‘ole Pinterest to the rescue!

Rainbow fruit skewers!!! How fun are these? And, they were a hit. There was other plates of fruit there, but these flew first. A fun presentation entices both kids & adults alike!

Fruit Kabobs

Sorry about not great pic, grabbed my iphone real quick as we headed out the door. :)

Am I the last person

to use this?

Magic Eraser

I have heard about this FOREVER, but never picked it up. Now that we are moving stuff around to move out-yikes, life is showing up on our walls. I thought I would give it a try before I have scuffs touched up. WOW-this is really amazing. You just wet it and rub, no chemicals! It takes off scuff marks so easily. It’s so important to me to leave this home as nice as possible for our new tenants so I have been using this all over the house today!

Have you ever used the Magic Eraser?
